Bio

Lora Gubanov received the Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Memphis in 2016. She completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 2011. As an enthusiastic educator, Dr. Gubanov is currently teaching students of all ages and skill levels. Some of her distinguished awards include 1st prize winner of the MTNA State Piano Competition in 2006, University of Tennessee's Concerto Competition winner in 2007, recipient of a full assistanship in teaching Class Piano at the University of Memphis in 2011, finalist at the University of Memphis Soloist Competition in 2013, and a participant in the Wideman International Piano Competition in Shreveport, LA in 2014. As an Adjunct faculty at the University of Memphis in the Spring of 2015, Dr. Gubanov taught private and chamber music lessons to Undergraduate students. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Music at LeMoyne-Owen College, and a teacher at Memphis Music Studio and Lausanne Collegiate School.

Lora's performing experience includes solo and chamber performances in the U.S., Bulgaria, Austria, and Germany.

Currently on the Executive Board of Tennessee's Music Teachers Association, Dr. Gubanov serves as Chair of Elementary Piano competitions.  She is a certified Suzuki piano teacher and a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, Music Teachers National Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
